EVERY MONTH

The Livermore Art Association and Livermore Heritage Guild invite visitors to view and buy works of art of local landmarks, favorite places, familiar scenes, wonderful travels, and exotic locations. There are always docents in attendance to assist visitors with access to information. Carnegie Building, 2155 3rd St., Livermore. Open Wed. through Sun., 11:30 am to 4:00 pm.  449-9927.
2nd & 4th Sundays – 1890’s costumed docents of the Ravenswood Progress League lead free tours of the Ravenswood Historic Site’s more than 100-year-old buildings and some of the 30 acres of grounds. Tours begin every 20 minutes and take approximately one hour, with the last tour of the day starting at 3 pm. Each tour includes the 1885 Cottage, the 1891 Main House, and the beautifully landscaped grounds. Ravenswood Historic Site, 2647 Arroyo Rd., Livermore.
Every First Sunday, rain or shine -- Friends of the Livermore Library stage a Book Sale from noon to 4:00 pm in front of the Old Library, 1000 South Livermore Ave. Books, magazines, audio, visuals at very low prices. Shopping bag sale for $2.00 a bag from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. Always a table of free books! For information call 443-8291.

Through the end of AUG - Cantabella Children’s Chorus holds Fall 2010 Registration. New singers are invited to email Director Bee Chow,director@cantabella.org or call (925) 292-2663 for information about placement in the training choirs or to arrange an audition for the performing choirs. 12 SEP – Local author Ruth Stern Gasten will speak about her book An Accidental American,her memories of her experience as a young Jewish girl who is taken from Hitler’s Germany to Chicago, 2:00 pm.

14 SEP – The Livermore-Amador Genealogical Society invites the public to its general meeting featuring a talk by Kay Speaks on Passenger List Annotations at 7:30 pm at Congregation Beth Emek, 3400 Nevada Court, Pleasanton. www.l-ags.org

10 SEP - Spencer Day sings an eclectic and refreshing mixture of everything from Cole Porter to Paul Simon creating an epic feel with each song. Tickets $19-40. 8:00 pm.
17 SEP– World class guitar legends Ronnie Montrose and Gary Hoey. Tickets $29-49. 8:00 pm.
18 SEP – Guitar Superstar 2010, Produced by Guitar Player Magazine. Ten finalists will fight it out in front of a panel of celebrity judges. $23-37. 7:00 pm.
23 SEP – Caledon, the "Three Tenors" of Scotland sing a rich and diverse selection of Scottish songs from the Borders to the Hebrides. Tickets $18-40. 7:30 pm.

OCTOBER 2010

2, 3, 9, 10 - OCT - Livermore Valley Opera opens its 19th season with a production of Don Giovanni, Mozart’s Classic Opera of the Legend of Don Juan. All performances are at Bankhead Theater. Tickets - $39-$64. Sunday Matinees at 2:00 pm; All other performances at 8:00 pm. Ticket includes pre-opera lecture given one hour prior to curtain. Free Parking.
9 OCT – The Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center and the Bothwell Arts Center present the 9th Annual ArtWalk, the Bothwell Art Center’s signature event of the year. 11:00 am-5:00 pm. This is a free downtown Livermore event, no ticket required!

22-23 OCTLas Positas College Performing Arts presents A Fractured Fairy Tale. Touring children's theater show on campus performances, times are 22 OCT at 7:00 pm and 23 OCT at 2:00 pm.
